5 Tips On Learning To Love Yourself

Hey guys! So today I wanted to talk about a more serious topic. Today I want to talk about body confidence and having general confidence in yourself. There is always a time in our lives where we've not felt 100% about ourselves - may this be when you are scrolling through Instagram and see Kylie Jenner's latest pic, or when you are looking in the mirror after eating that extra slice of pizza. As much as we can all have our down moments, it's important that we can learn to look past this and learn to love ourselves for who we are.

To a lot of people, the thought of this may sound challenging. But I promise that as soon as you stop worrying about what everyone else thinks and just concentrate on what YOU think, you will feel so much happier. Chances are, the people you like to compare yourself to probably are just as worried of people's perceptions as you are. An important thing to remember when learning to love yourself is, someone is probably looking at you the way you look at that Instagram model, wishing you had that figure. You need to appreciate what God has given you, so here are a few tips I have that may help you along they way to self love.

1. Think about the things you like about yourself

We are so concerned about the things we want to change about ourselves that we never really give ourselves credit for what we do like. Take a look at yourself in the mirror and try and pick a few bits about you that you really like and I assure you, you will instantly feel better.

2. Don't worry about that extra slice of cake

Sitting there and worrying about the amount of calories you have ate that day really isn't going to make you a happier person. You only live once, so why restrict your happiness? If going out for food makes you happy, you don't have to feel guilty about it. Of course it is important to stay healthy, but a healthy mind is just as important. Society has the tendency for making you feel bad for any little thing you eat, but remember most of those models you see in the magazines are photoshopped anyway so it is an unrealistic target. Once you stop calorie counting you will take away the pressure you put upon yourself.

3. Don't dwell on the past

We all have that moment when we see a photo of us a few years ago and we "can't believe how much weight we've put on". But chances are that when you was that age, you was still concerned about how you looked. Don't dwell on the past and "wish" away your years. You don't want to be looking back on yourself another 5 years from now thinking, why didn't I appreciate myself then? Embrace what you've got and be proud of who you are.

4. If there is something you dislike, make a strategic plan

If after all this you are still sitting there thinking "I really don't like this about myself" make a strategic plan to fix it. If you feel like you are a little bigger then you'd like, get to the gym, start eating healthy and do the most you can to improve the situation. You will be proud of yourself for putting the effort in even if barely anything changes.

5. Cut out negativity in your life

There is nothing worse then listening to your friend talk about "how fat they have got" when you know for a fine fact you are 2 dress sizes bigger. You don't need to listen to other people's negativity as it will only make you think about things you may have not considered before. If its a friend that is being negative, ask politely to stop and tell them your feelings. If that does not work, take a serious thought to whether you really need someone that negative in your life. Surround yourself with positive and loving people and you will find that you instantly feel more confident in yourself.

So they are a few tips to encourage self love for ourselves. I hope you enjoyed reading this post and please comment below if you have anything to add to this list to help other people!
